Online dating service to raise funds for charities

Canadian-based Venture Initiatives for Philanthropy is attempting to direct some of the revenues from online dating to charities through its SingleswithHeart.com website.

Many online dating websites are generating significant income, so Venture Initiatives for Philanthropy (V.I.P.) decided to create a site that benefited charities.

SingleswithHeart.com offers two revenue streams for charities. If they themselves choose to host a SingleswithHeart.com-supported speed dating event, then they will receive 72% of revenue generated. Secondly, by generating members for the service then can share 50% of those membership fees.

As with most online affinity programmes, participating charities will need to invest effort in promoting the service to their supporters.

Charities wishing to participate need to sign up to receive a unique ID number, otherwise VIP says “they will not be considered in the allocation of membership fees”. There is no cost to sign up. The site has been designed to ensure that it does not contain any offensive content.

SinglesWithHeart.com is the first in a planned series of services for charities from entrepreneur Elisa Pappin based on the formula of “minimum volunteer hours + zero financial risk to the charity while equalling high financial return for the charity.”
