Local charity gains support of Hollywood celebrity

Epping-based mental health charity Action In Mental Health (Aim) has shown that small, local groups can also attract high-profile celebrity support, following their successful approach to Hollywood star Jackie Chan.

According to The Guardian, the charity wrote to martial arts expert Chan and other celebrities last year. He initially donated items for an auction but follow-up correspondence by the charity caught his attention. He was particularly interested in Aim’s plans for a new centre for joy, wellbeing and mind, issues of relevance to the practice of martial arts.

Chan, a Unicef/UNAids goodwill ambassador, visited Aim’s website and decided to sign up as a patron.
