Sainsbury's launches school sports equipment voucher scheme

Supermarket Sainsbury’s has launched Active Kids, a scheme that enables shoppers to collect vouchers which they can donate to a school to exchange “for a range of active equipment and experiences.”
Active equipment on offer includes playground marketings, publications, storage and kit for many sports including basketball, golf, climbing, badminton, and rugby. “We’ve got something for all types of school and all ages and abilities”, say Sainbury’s.
Active experiences available include paintball, ice skating, salsa dancing and scuba diving. However, not all experiences are available nationwide.

Starting in April 2005, there is nationwide Active Kids roadshow which will let pupils try out some of the Active Kids equipment in Sainsbury’s stores.
The vouchers can be collected when shopping at Sainsbury’s between 2 March and 30 June 2005. For every £10 anyone spends at Sainsbury’s, both online and instore, they will receive one Active Kids voucher. In addition, “to reinforce our commitment to healthier living”, Sainsbury’s will issue an extra voucher for every £5 spent on fresh fruit and vegetables.
Sainsbury’s shoppers can also donate their Nectar points to the Active Kids scheme.
Other shops taking part in the scheme include Bells, Beaumount’s and Jackson’s stores, although they will choose their own nominated schools.
