The DEC Earthquake/Tsunami disaster appeal fund this morning stood at £32 million, up £7 million overnight.

This morning the DEC was receiving around £15,000 a minute in donations via the phone and Web.

The total donation does not include gifts sent by post or handed in at banks, Post Offices or building societies. Nor does it include money donated in many other ways: for example, the Oxfam shop in Kensington received £8,000 yesterday and the Chichester shop £7,000.

It took around six months to reach this figure of £32 million for the DEC’s most recent emergency appeal for the Darfur region of Sudan.
