Deloitte announces new charity partners for 2005-06

Professional services firm Deloitte & Touche LLP has chosen the British Heart Foundation and Leukaemia Research Fund as its national charity partners for 2005-06.

The firm expects to raise more than £0.5 million for the charities during the two-year partnership.

The decision was based on responses from Deloitte’s 10,000 UK employees, who all had an opportunity to nominate a charity for consideration. Over 100 different charities were put forward. A shortlist of ten charities was then drawn up by a committee and employees invited to voted for their favourite.

Martin Scicluna, UK Chairman of Deloitte, said: “Through our fundraising and payroll giving we will be supporting [our charity partners’] vital work in addressing two of the UK’s major health challenges.”

The previous beneficiaries of a two-year partnership with Deloitte were ChildLine and Marie Curie Cancer Care, for whom the company which raised more than £0.5 million.
