New £5 coin produced

The Royal Mint has created a new £5 coin that is legal tender so can be accepted as a donation.
The £5 crown has been issued to commemorate the centenary of the Entente Cordiale, the agreement between Britain and France. The two symbolic figures of Britannia and Marianne appear on the reverse, merged at the waist as if on a court playing card.
The face value version of the £5 coin is unlikely to be dropped in to too many collecting tins, but it should certainly not be refused.

The Royal Mint is also producing special collector versions in gold and silver. If you receive one of those, then definitely hold on to it: produced in limited editions of 15,000 and 1,500 they are worth £34.50 and £555 respectively.
