New anti-fraud software tool for charities

Accountants firm PKF says that its forensic accounting experts have developed a software programme which will help charities detect fraud.

The programme, called PKF Finder, enables charities to search their purchase ledger data to help pinpoint suspicious activities such as duplicate invoices and VAT irregularities.

Charles Cox, partner and head of charities at PKF said: “The majority of business fraud is committed by employees and almost half by senior management. PKF Finder can track down overpayments to suppliers, errors in VAT treatment and indicators of potential fraud.”

Even if no fraud is present, PKF Finder can still help identify potential cost savings from duplicate payments and VAT mis-postings and provide key management information on purchase ledgers.
