Google again ranks UK Fundraising top for searches on "fundraising"

UK Fundraising has once again returned to the top position on Google for searches on the word “fundraising”.

UK Fundraising had been top for quite some time before being knocked into second place by the Association of Fundraising Professionals in the USA. Now we’re back to our accustomed position, so we’re rather pleased.

On Google’s UK site UK Fundraising has always been top result for “fundraising”, ever since Google launched its UK version.

In nearly 10 years of online publishing we have never spent a penny on online promotion, so hope that charities with equally large online promotional budgets take heart from this. Our position is, we believe, simply down to running a regularly updated site that offers good quality information to which many other site owners wish to add links. We have also been early users of META tag information and have been careful to design our site so that it can be indexed effectively by Google and the other key search engines.

At the same time, we realise that, important as a top ranking in Google is, people do use other search engines to locate Web-based information, and Google might itself be supplanted in its current dominant position. And of course, a Web site’s key audience is its human users, not Google.
