Corporate giving is down by 0.2%, say DSC

The Directory of Social Change reports that corporate giving has declined by 0.2% over the previous year, the first drop in six years.

During 2000-2001, the top 400 UK companies gave £499m to charities, including £286m in cash donations. This represented 0.44% of pre-tax profits. In the USA companies give on average 1% of pre-tax profits to charity.

Most UK companies do not give to charity. The top 400 companies account for 99% of all corporate donations to charity.
