Sense launches new online donation system
Sense, the charity for children and adults who are both deaf and blind, has joined forces with only online payment mediation service Ymogen to trial a new method of accepting donations online.
The new system makes it cost-effective for people to give smaller amounts than those usually made by credit card. Visitors to Sense’s Website can now donate as little as £1. The visitor can then choose their own payment option, which includes donating by mobile phone or credit and debit cards, and will soon be expanded to utility bills and bank accounts.
Paul Amadi, Director of Fundraising at Sense, says, “Ymogen’s online payment mediation service means donors can give small amounts to Sense at their own convenience, in any number of ways, something we’re very excited about.”

Emma Clark, Web and Information Officer at Sense, adds “As a medium sized charity it hasn’t been cost-effective for Sense to take online donations of less than £10 up until now. By extending this, and accepting smaller amounts, we aim to increase our online donations considerably.”
Ymogen’s e-payment technology also allows publishers to sell content or services over the Internet. Any form of digital content, including articles, news, games, and horoscopes can be charged to the user’s preferred bill.
