Web donations exceed telephone for Oxfam

Oxfam is once again finding that donors are giving more online than via the telephone. According to SocietyGuardian, more than 10% of the £100,000 given to Oxfam’s Afghanistan emergency appeal was donated online, more than twice the amount given by the telephone.

The response to the Goma volcano appeal confirmed this trend with £16,500 being donated online in two days, three times as much as was donated via the telephone.

This trend is not new. In June 2001 UK Fundraisng reported that Oxfam had been surprised to note that more was given online to the February Indian earthquake appeal than was given via the telephone.
