Farewell Ben and Jerry

Howard Lake | 12 April 2000 | News

Philanthropic ice-cream makers Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield have sold their company to Unilever. It appears that the deal involves Unilever committing to maintain some of the charitable and social provisions that made Ben & Jerry’s Homemade such an icon in the corporate giving field. For example, they are reported to be committed to continue paying 7.5% of pre-tax profits to the company’s charity, according to The Guardian.
