Iceland Foods foundation donates £300k to help vulnerable children at Christmas
Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation has helped Action for Children establish an emergency fund to support those most in need this winter. Its £300,000 donation has enable the formation of the Action for Children Iceland Winter fund.
The grant follows a partnership between the two organisations last year. Every single member of the 28,000-strong Iceland staff became an Action for Children Secret Santa as the Foundation donated £280,000 on their behalf to disadvantaged children and their families.
This year the donation has increased to £300,000.

As well as help with food, grocery vouchers, fuel and bills, the money will also be spent on white goods such as freezers, cookers and microwaves, as well as pans and cutlery.
As a result of its donation Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation has again become the lead partner for the charity’s annual Secret Santa fundraising campaign.
Melanie Armstrong, Action for Children’s chief executive, thanked the foundation and Iceland’s staff, adding that “It’s frankly shocking that in 2021 there are still more than four million children living in poverty in the UK”.
Paul Dhaliwal, Trading Director at Iceland Foods and IFCF Trustee, said: “We as a company are under no illusion about the challenging economic situation so many families currently find themselves in and the thought that over four million children could be going hungry and cold at this time of year is unbearable. I am so proud of Iceland’s charitable foundation and the work it does to support good causes – and what could be a better cause than this at Christmas time? I know that the staff at Action for Children will work tirelessly to make sure this money helps those who need it most and I’m delighted that Iceland can play its part in making that happen, by donating £10 on behalf of each of our 30,000 colleagues.”
Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation has donated over £30m to good causes in the UK.
Since 2010 it has focused on fundraising for dementia research, donating £10m to UCL Dementia Research to help fund construction of the London hub of the new UK Dementia Research Institute, more than £5m to Alzheimer’s Research UK, and over £1.5m to the Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer Scotland.
