Crowdfunder is offering charities another way to fundraise on its platform with the launch of a prize draw tool.

Prize draws are free to run, with a 0% platform fee for the first three months and just transaction fees to pay, and Crowdfunder is also providing additional in-person support from its coaches.

To launch a prize draw, charities need to decide on a timeline, how much to set the price for a ticket or entry, and great prizes. Entrants can increase their chances of winning by donating multiple times, therefore giving them multiple entries into the same draw. A winner is chosen at random when the draw closes.

Crowdfunder has recently seen specially focused prize draws for Edinburgh Zoo and Stagehand, and based on their success, decided to develop the tool for all.

Celia Brady, Head of Development at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland said:

“Our team at Edinburgh Zoo were delighted with the success of our first charity prize draw on the Crowdfunder platform earlier this year. It was very easy to set up and run, and the idea was very popular with both the public and our supporters. We raised three times more than our previous crowdfunding campaign and over 4,500 people bought a ticket. Over 1,100 people took the time to leave a message of support and tell us they thought the prize draw was a great idea to raise much needed funds.”

Stagehand’s #ILoveLive prize draw featured prizes donated by artists, including a customised guitar from Eric Clapton, a signed snare drum from Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters, and the Spice Girls’ Union Jack sofa from the 2019 Spiceworld tour. So far, Stagehand have raised over £917,000 through prize draws on Crowdfunder, all going towards stage crew put out of work by the pandemic.

The first charity to use the new system is Streets of London to fund its Come on Home campaign, which aims to tackle homelessness in the capital. The Streets of London’s prize draw features prizes from A-List musicians including a guitar from Coldplay, tickets to see the Chemical Brothers, and a post-show meet and greet with Duran Duran.

Simon Walker, Head of Projects at Crowdfunder, said:

“It’s our delight to add a dedicated prize draw tool to our range of fundraising mechanics. After listening to our customer requests and looking at what was available on the market we decided that we could build something brilliant that costs virtually nothing for our patrons to use. For those looking to onboard new supporters, relieve donor fatigue, find new ways to make headlines and take home almost everything raised, Crowdfunder’s prize draws represent a fun, quick and accessible way of doing all the above.”
