One of Northern Ireland’s largest cancer charities has reported an increase in income last year due to an exceptional increase in legacy income.

Action Cancer raised £4 million in the financial year to March 2019, up from £3.7 million the year before. The income figure includes an in-kind contribution valued at £390,000 from advertising space donated from a number of advertising agencies.

Legacy increased from £143,000 to £506,000 and helped to offset a drop in donation and trading income which fell from, £360,000 to £260,000 and from £1.3 million to £1.2 million respectively. The charity reported that trading income contributed £163,000 to its fundraising, a fall of £50,000 from the year before.
