Philanthropy promotion body in N Ireland suspends operations

Howard Lake | 15 January 2018 | News

The organisation set up to promote philanthropy in Northern Ireland has suspended operations.
Giving NI (GNI) was co-funded by Lloyds TSB Foundation for Northern Ireland (now Halifax Foundation) and The Atlantic Philanthropies in 2013 to draw attention to philanthropic activities in Northern Ireland and encourage more people to become involved in strategic giving.
GNI’s said its mission was to champion philanthropy/giving in Northern Ireland, focusing particularly on High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) and corporates and to build a strong independent voice for giving by working in collaboration, cooperation and partnership with sister organisations.
GNI was also central to establishing and running the annual Philanthropy Fortnight event in Northern Ireland.
