TheGivingMachine celebrates 10 years of helping charities
TheGivingMachine is celebrating its tenth year, during which it has generated more than £1.3 million in free donations.
Over £57 million of sales have been made via TheGivingMachine site, generating 1.8 million donations. The £1.3m raised in donations has benefited over 7,000 UK-based charities, schools and good causes, from large national charities such as the Alzheimer’s Society and Cancer Research UK, to schools and small local community groups.
TheGivingMachine has more than 2,000 retailers on its site including John Lewis and Amazon, and lets online shoppers raise donations for charities at no cost to themselves by harnessing sales commissions for online sales and converting them into funds. The shopper selects the charity to receive their donations and can support up to four causes at any one time.
The Bishop Stortford-based charity was formed by Richard Morris, Jonathan Bayly, Craig McKenzie and Mark Clark, who came up with the concept to design a website that would allow online shoppers the chance to raise free donations for the charities of their choice.
Last year, the charity revealed the top ten counties for giving, with Londoners giving the most donations through TheGivingMachine, followed by Hertfordshire.
