Daily Telegraph Christmas appeal raises almost £150,000 for Blue Cross

The Daily Telegraph Christmas charity appeal 2016 has raised £149,701.19 for Blue Cross, one of three charities supported.
The animal charity was selected along with Heads Together and Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.  The newspaper picked the charities as “organisations of proven effectiveness, and causes which have the potential to make significant strides in their particular specialisms.”
Each benefited from being featured in a number of articles over the two-month-long appeal period, together with overt appeals for donations from the newspaper.
Blue Cross received front page coverage and a double-page spread about its animal hospital in Victoria, central London.
Julia McKechnie-Burke, Director of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications at Blue Cross said:
“We are deeply grateful to the Daily Telegraph for choosing Blue Cross as one of its beneficiaries for their Christmas Appeal. They have enabled us to showcase the vital work we do and raised invaluable funds allowing us to help even more abandoned, sick and injured pets each year.”
The 2015 Telegraph Christmas appeal raised a total of over £680,000, once Gift Aid was reclaimed.
