Ed Byrne to host Institute of Fundraising National Fundraising Awards

Comedian and presenter Ed Byrne is to be the host at this year’s Institute of Fundraising National Fundraising Awards.

The awards ceremony, now in its 26th year, celebrates the work of some of the best fundraisers, organisations and partners that work to support good causes in the UK and overseas. This year the event takes place on 29 November at a new venue, The Troxy in London.

Byrne is a panellist on shows such as Mock the Week and Have I Got News for You. Over the past 20 years he has appeared in hit tours around the world, sold out many runs at the Edinburgh Fringe, had a successful two-week run in the West End, and appeared on radio, television, the stage and film. He featured as “teenager” in the Father Ted Christmas special, “A Christmassy Ted”.

The shortlist for the 2016 fundraising awards was announced in September.

Peter Lewis, IoF Chief Executive said:

“As the date for the National Fundraising Awards draws nearer we are increasingly excited about celebrating the success of fundraisers and the fantastic work they are doing, and are over the moon that Ed Byrne will be hosting proceedings. These awards are one of the biggest events in our calendar and all of the people shortlisted in these categories deserve huge congratulations. The dedication, passion, and commitment that they have demonstrated are an inspiration to all of us.”

Tables for the National Fundraising Awards are still available to book.

This year’s event sees Chairman of the Awards Kevin Kibble stepping down after 20 years in the role.
