Shortlist announced for The Fundraising Awards 2006

The Institute of Fundraising have announced the shortlisted nominations to The Fundraising Awards 2006, the national awards that recognise excellence in fundraising.

The Fundraising Awards are designed to celebrate outstanding achievement by charities, fundraisers and volunteers, “recognising the very best in fundraising”. They will be presented at a gala dinner, hosted by Top Gear’s Richard Hammond, at the Hilton London Metropole on 10 July 2006.

Run in partnership with Professional Fundraising magazine, the Awards and gala dinner are part of the Institute’s wider aim to promote and celebrate best practice in fundraising.

The shortlist for The Fundraising Awards 2006 is follows:

• Best Direct Mail Campaign – Amnesty International, Farleigh Hospice, Royal British Legion, Royal Mail

• Best Use of New Media – British Red Cross, Capital Radio, Comic Relief

• Best Use of the Telephone in Fundraising – Action Aid/ NTT Major Donors, Action Aid/ NTT Child Sponsors, Cancer Research UK/ Pell and Bales

• Best Face-to-Face Fundraising Campaign – Aspinall Foundation, Pattaya Orphanage Trust, Sustrans

• Best Use of Payroll Giving – Action Medical Research, Compass and Sharing the Caring, Shelter/ Workplace Giving and Grainger Trust

• Best Use of Events – Children’s Trust/ Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, Macmillan/ World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, Scottish Huntington’s Association

• Best Local or Community Campaign – Farleigh Hospice, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Tiny Lives

• Most Effective Corporate Relationship – Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Gala/ Mecca Bingo, Marie Curie and Lloyds TSB, Sightsavers and Standard Chartered Bank

Entries have been judged by leading sector experts and the winners will be announced at the gala dinner, which is being held on the first night of the Institute’s three-day National Convention, the largest event for fundraisers outside the US. The Fundraising Awards 2006 are sponsored by Charities Aid Foundation (CAF).
