The #firstfiver campaign started by John Thompson to encourage people to donate their first new polymer £5 note to charity still has momentum. Madeleine Sugden reports on how it has developed, and how charities and individuals have responded to the opportunity.

She adds that there is still time to join in. Many people have not yet seen their first new fiver so, unusually, this viral campaign is proving to have some longevity.
