Pink bale wrap raises £18,500 for Breast Cancer Now

Pink-wrapped silage bales have raised £18,500 for Breast Cancer Now this summer.
Organised by Volac, which is the agent for the wrap in the UK, the campaign ran for the first time last year, and raised £10,000. Each roll of the pink wrap sold to farmers resulted in a £3 donation to the charity, with Volac, film manufacturer Trioplast, and the farmer each contributing £1.
Special pink stickers were also available for farmers using the more traditional green or black bales, who also wanted to donate and demonstrate their support.
The idea came when Trioplast offered the roll for sale last year. Volac took it on and, inspired by the colour, developed the idea of using it to raise funds for Breast Cancer Now.

Jackie Bradley, regional product manager at Volac said:

“Initially we weren’t sure how a pink wrap would sell but pink has a strong association with breast cancer and we sold out. The response we’ve had to the campaign has been nothing short of amazing. There have been bright pink bales in fields up and down the country. The aim was to help raise awareness of the disease while raising money for a fantastic cause.”
