Postcode Local Trust offers £1.5m ‘grass roots’ funding pot

Melanie May | 9 September 2016 | News

Funding for environmental projects is available for the second time this year from the Postcode Local Trust.
£1.5m is available, with the Trust seeking projects that will improve local ecology and habitats, encourage bio-diversity and benefit the wider environment. Groups can apply for funding ranging from £500 – £20,000.
In the previous funding round at the beginning of 2016, almost 200 projects receive an award from players. Beneficiaries included Buglife, which received £17,337 for its North Lanarkshire’s Buzzing project to help transform four hectares of amenity grassland into diverse meadows using native species of wildflower. Vauxhall City Farm also received £14,840 to enable it to purchase the necessary resources to run over 200 farm workshops.
This round of funding opened for applications on 1st September and will remain open until 5pm on 30th September. Applicants must visit the Trust’s Applying for a Grant page and fill in an online form.
Rebecca Whitley, trust manager of Postcode Local Trust, said:

“We had such an amazing response to the first funding round and it’s incredible to think that players of People’s Postcode Lottery have supported almost 200 projects in this category already. We really hope to repeat the success of the previous round and we’d love to hear from the many grassroots initiatives that have exciting projects up their sleeves that need support.”
