Inspiration from four fantastic legacy legends – part two

Howard Lake | 22 August 2016 | Blogs

With just three weeks to go until Remember A Charity in your Will Week, 12th – 18th September 2016, charities both large and small are busy preparing for what we hope will be our most vibrant campaign yet.
The success of the Week relies on every charity being loud about legacies and showing their supporters that they can make a difference to future generations.
We won’t give away too much for now, but thought we would cast your minds back to a fantastic legend each week who has not only made their mark supporting charities in their own lifetime and beyond, but encouraged many others to leave a legacy and pass on something legendary to future generations.
After Hugh’s abseiling feats from last week’s blog, meet Briony Smith, legacy legend for Sue Ryder.

Age has no bounds for Briony Smith. To celebrate her 80th birthday last year, Briony climbed Mount Snowdon to raise money for her local Sue Ryder, Leckhampton Court Hospice. To top it all off, having climbed the 3,560 feet to the summit, she signed a pledge to leave the charity a gift in her Will to raise awareness of legacy giving.
She has made a huge difference to the charity. Does your organisation have a Briony in its midst who could inspire others in this way?

Who is your Briony?

This year’s Remember A Charity Week will call on the British public to pass on something legendary, tweeting their advice for future generations at #MyWisdom and remembering a charity in their Will. Charities, Government, solicitors and Will-writers will all come together to encourage the public to leave a gift to charity in their Will.
