Trocaire’s fundraising income up by 7%

Catholic relief charity Trocaire raised €66 million last year, an increase of 13% on the previous year, according to the charity’s latest accounts.
Fundraising income also increased, by 7%, to €25 million with most income areas posting increases.
Trocaire’s biggest fundraising campaign, the Lenten appeal, increased from just under €8 million to €8.3 million. Committed giving grew significantly, from €3.8 million to €5.3 million. Special appeals and the Christmas appeal also grew to €2.8 million and €2 million respectively.
General donations and bequests was one area of fundraising that fell last year, from €8.4 million to €6.6 million.
Fundraising expenditure fell last year from €4.8 million to €4.4 million. This represented 7% of all expenditure, just below the 8% figure for the previous year.
The bulk of Trocaire’s funding comes from government sources, with the Irish Government leading the way with €18 million last year. The British government is the next biggest donor to Trocaire, providing €8.8 million, up from €5.5 million on the year before.
