Community Development Foundation to close in 2016
Community engagement and empowerment charity the Community Development Foundation has announced that it is to close early next year.
The CDF’s trustees and senior team unanimously reached the decision to cease trading in early 2016, and are seeking to transfer the charity’s assets, including reserves, intellectual property and potentially programmes and products, to another organisation.
While the CDF said it could continue trading until 2018, the trustees and senior team have said that they believe the move to be the best way to support community development and achieve the CDF’s charitable objectives in the long term.
The trustees will begin the process of finding suitable organisations to transfer its assets over to in January, while the organisation will continue to meet its contractual obligations until March 2016.
Alison Seabrooke, CDF chief executive, said:
“The operating environment has changed radically and we are convinced we must act now from a position of strength. We will fulfil our contractual obligations until March 2016. Some staff will stay on until the end of April 2016 to finalise these and to deliver a well-managed closure.”
