NPSCC income up by 7% to £134.5 million

The NSPCC recorded a 7% increase in income to £134.5 million for the financial year ending March 2015 (£126 million in 2014), according to its latest accounts.
The charity’s main source of income – donations, gifts and legacies – raised £110 million in 2015, roughly the same as in 2014 but down in percentage terms of overall income at 82% from 88%.
Regular donations from individuals were down in 2015 to £65 million from £67 million while legacies and other gifts and donations were roughly flat at £21 million and £15 million respectively. Community fundraising increased from £8 million to £8.7 million.

Fundraising events such as dinners, balls, challenge events and allowing companies to use the charity’s name for marketing activities grew from just under £6 million in 2014 to over £8 million in 2015.
The cost of generating funds in 2015 was £28.5 million, up from £26.7 million in 2014. Raising funds from regular donations cost nearly £10 million in 2015, legacy fundraising cost over £2 million while community fundraising costs were £4.5 million. The total cost of trading and fundraising events was £5.5 million.
Fundraising staff at the NSPCC totalled 305 full time post equivalents out of a total staff of 1830.
The NSPCC received over £9 million from statutory sources for delivering services in the last financial year. Income in 2015 was also boosted by an exceptional item, £6 million from the sale of properties and other assets.
Total NSPCC funds raised in 2015 were £83 million, up from £78 million the year before.
