Arlene Phillips launches BHF’s charity shop stock appeal
Director and choreographer Arlene Phillips is fronting this year’s British Heart Foundation stock donation appeal Bag It. Beat It which runs throughout September.
She is inviting the public to find unwanted items and donate them to their local BHF shop.
Clear-out statistics
Research for British Heart Foundation found that there is plenty of potential for donated items. The charity claims that:
• the average person in the UK has at least three items of clothing that have never been worn, and six items that no longer fit
• 10% of people admit to hanging on to more than 16 items of clothing that no longer fit
Arlene Phillips said:
“It was really therapeutic clearing out my wardrobe and finding items to donate to Bag It. Beat It. Every week around 2,000 families lose a loved one to heart disease, but with continued support from the public, the BHF can fight harder to reduce this figure. I’d encourage everyone to get involved this September and turn their unwanted stuff into life saving heart research.”
