Taylor Swift’s major gift raises maximum donation amount on GoFundMe

A $50,000 donation from singer Taylor Swift to a crowdfunding campaign for an 11-year-old girl in the US undergoing treatment for leukaemia has resulted in the crowdfunding site increasing its donation limit.
Previously GoFundMe had allowed donations of up to $15,000, primarily because that was the limit set by its payment processor WePay. The company has agreed to raise this limit.
GoFundMe’s CEO Rob Solomon said:

“Taylor Swift’s donation was so generous that it required us to increase the donation limit on the platform”.

In order to donate $50,000, Swift had had to make three donations of $15,000 plus one final gift of $5,000.
The campaign for Naomi Oakes originally had a target of $30,000. The total raised currently stands at $79,018.
Naomi had planned to see Swift in concert in August but that has had to be postponed while she undergoes treatment. Here is her reaction when she realised Swift had supported her campaign and sent her and her family a message of support:

“Including gifts to other campaigns, Taylor Swift has given more than any other donor in GoFundMe history”.
