Second Annual Lectures focus on fundraising insight
The second Annual Lectures from Revolutionise took place yesterday at the Royal Institution in London. Eighteen experienced fundraisers and presenters shared their insight with over 250 delegates.
Yesterday UK Fundraising reported on Professor Jen Shang’s research findings on supporting philanthropists on taking more risks in their giving. Here are some highlights from the day from those who took part and from those who joined the discussion from afar.
This year’s event was attended by five aspiring fundraising writers whose reports we shall link to when they are published by SOFII and The Agitator.

The Annual Lectures – insights and inspiration
The Annual Lectures, by Revolutionise, are a series of fast-moving, information-packed presentations by 18 of the best speakers from within our sector and outside. The second Annual Lectures took place on 4 December 2014 at The Royal Institution and was produced by Tony Elischer.
It was an early start for some (well, for everyone really but more so for those who travelled from afar!).
After registration, coffee and networking it was time to start with a welcome from Revolutionise’s Roger Lawson.
A big welcome to all the SOFII and The Agitator Aspiring Writer winners – Simon Scriver, Kirsty Simpson, Emily Henry, Stephanie Drummond and Gemma Walder.
Only fitting that at The Royal Institute, a new scientific element is born… Andy Whyte reveals… Fundraisium.
The keynote address was delivered by Phil Barden, author of Decoded – The science behind why we buy, to offer insights into individuals, emotional decision making and the way that the commercial sector thinks.
[This report was published on Storify.com which no longer publishes. We’ve reconstructed as much of the live report as we can but sadly just the first page survives from Storify.com. Other content from the event follows].
