Three new rules of fundraising

Howard Lake | 10 September 2014 | Blogs

Richard Turner, Chief Fundraiser at Solar Aid, has just blogged about “the three new rules of fundraising” on 101fundraising.org.
Although fundraising fundamentals really don’t change much, no matter what new techniques and channels appear, Richard has managed to highlight some changes that are upon us as a result of our digitally networked world. And he has written them from the point of the donor.
These are useful reminders that digital fundraising has given us remarkably powerful ways of communicating with people, but as fundraisers we need to be careful to use them appropriately.
They might be familiar to most fundraisers, and are probably an update of ‘relationship fundraising’.
But Richard’s rules are doubly useful. Not only does he offer these rules – with each one, he includes succinct guidance on what to do with them.
