Concern UK posted an increase in fundraising income of £2.8 million in 2013, according to the organisation’s latest accounts.
Total voluntary income grew from £7.8 million in 2012 to £10.7 million in 2013. The most significant increase in this category of income was in donations provided by the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC). This income was £1.9 million in 2013 compared with just £344,000 in 2012.
Concern UK, which is part of Concern Worldwide, ran two emergency fundraising appeals, one in response to the crisis in Syria, and one for those affected by the Philippines typhoon. These raised almost £891,000 through donations from individuals, corporates, fundraising events and cash appeals.
Using online, postal and telephone donations the charity also received strong support for other fundraising appeals, which included providing survival kits to families fleeing violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which raised over £300,000.
The annual report also noted their support from the 41,000 people on their database and added over 2,600 new supporters. Legacy income more than doubled from £450,000 to £998,000 in 2013.
The organisation had total income of £17.8 million, the balance coming from government funded programmes.
Total fundraising costs for 2013 were £3 million.
