M&S recycled plastic frisbee raises funds for Marine Conservation Charity
Frisbees made from recycled plastic, including some collected from rubbish left on UK beaches, are now on sale from Marks & Spencer, with 50p from each £2.50 sale being donated to the Marine Conservation Society.
The Beach Clean Frisbee is a toy made from recycled litter including plastic cups, fishing tackle and bottle tops. Some of the plastic was collected by M&S customers and staff at last year’s Big Beach Clean-Up volunteer event. This year’s campaign is underway this week, finishing on 30 April. It will clear 140 UK beaches and canals, and organisers hope to clear even more than last year’s 30 tonnes of litter.
The frisbee is on sale from M&S.com and in six M&S.com stores on the coast – Belfast (Abbey Centre), Bexhill, Lytham St Annes, Silverlink Retail Park, Weston Super Mare and Edinburgh Kinnaird.
It launches in time for this year’s Big Beach Clean-Up (which kicks off today and runs until the 30th April) and is on sale now at and in six costal M&S stores – Belfast (Abbey Centre), Bexhill, Lytham St Annes, Silverlink Retail Park, Weston Super Mare and Edinburgh Kinnaird.
Mike Barry, Director of Plan A, M&S’ environment and ethical programme, at M&S, said:
“We’ve managed to transform waste, taking it off beaches where it threatens marine life, into a brand new product that is fun for our customers and raises money for MCS’ on-going work to protect our seas. That’s Plan A in action, a volunteer event that engages customers, saves precious raw materials and gives back to charity – all with a business case behind it.”
