Trevor Green appointed Chief Barker of Variety, the Children’s Charity

Variety, the Children’s Charity, has appointed Trevor Green, co-owner of independent film distributor The Entertainment Group, as Chief Barker (Chairman) for 2014. Green has already served on the charity’s executive committee.
He has been involved in launching a large number of successful films including The Artist, Silver Linings Playbook, The Departed, Million Dollar Baby, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Gosford Park.
Circus roles
For its management roles Variety reflects its entertainment heritage by using titles traditionally associated with the circus. The post of Chief Barker, the charity’s most senior position, is held by a volunteer nominated and voted for by The Crew (The Board of Trustees).
Green takes over in the role form property magnate Laurence Davis. He will focus on developing further the charity’s fundraising capabilities and introducing new initiatives.
Laurence Davis, Chief Barker 2013, said:
“We’re looking forward to Trevor bringing some Hollywood razzle-dazzle to the position, and helping drive the charity’s success forward.”
