50k of match funding announced for Cornish community projects

Howard Lake | 13 August 2013 | News

The Cornwall Community Foundation has partnered with crowdfunding platform Crowdfunder.co.uk to offer £50,000 worth of matched funding for selected community based projects in Cornwall.

Crowdfunder.co.uk will work with a number of Cornish community projects to help them reach their crowdfunding targets. These sums will then be match funded by The Cornwall Community Foundation provided the project fits their guidelines.

Earlier this year Crowdfunder.co.uk has already launched Crowdfund Cornwall this year, its first regional funding initiative to fund local ideas, charity and community projects and environmental and educational venture. It aims to raise £200,000 for 100 Cornish projects. It has already launched 21 projects and raised over £17,714.

The Cornwall Community Foundation will match fund selected projects from this initiative. Community groups and charities that are starting a project and wish to be considered for the match funding should contact Crowdfunder support.

Carolyn Boyce, Chief Executive, Cornwall Community Foundation, said: "We are delighted to be working in partnership with Crowdfunder on their Crowdfund Cornwall campaign, as we have many parallel objectives and by working together we can help more projects succeed whether they are a charity, community-led organisation or social enterprise. It is exciting to support new ideas which also supports and addresses the needs of local people throughout the County."

How Crowdfunder works

Charities and community groups can add projects to crowdfunder.co.uk and then, over a period of up to six weeks, raise a target amount via an organised campaign. The platform works on an all or nothing basis: funds are only released if the pre-agreed targets are met.
