Comic Relief uses Google+ Hangouts for online comedy events

Howard Lake | 9 August 2013 | News

Comic Relief is using Google+ Hangouts to broadcast comedy shows, making it one of the first UK charities to exploit this interactive video broadcasting channel.

The Hangout Comedy Show will feature “some of the UK’s funniest comedians”. Viewers can even interact with the comedians if they wish, although the impact of a virtual heckle is yet to be established.

There is no charge to watch the Hangout Comedy Club, but you do have to register for free first.

Using the ‘Laughometer’ to determine how much fun the audience is having, Comic Relief will then make suggestions of how much they should donate.
