National Convention to celebrate 30th anniversary of Institute of Fundraising

The Institute of Fundraising's National Convention takes place in London next week, as the professional body for fundraisers in the UK celebrates its 30th anniversary.

The three-day event is the biggest conference for fundraisers in Europe, with over 2,500 fundraisers attending.

Delegates can choose from eight strands amongst the many sessions and presentations, including digital, major gifts, individual giving and events.

Keynote speakers

The Convention will start on a celebratory note with a plenary presentation by Tony Elischer who, whilst recognising past achievements, will outline what approaches he thinks the profession needs to embrace to build on that success.

Fiona Woolf CBE, likely to become only the second woman to become Lord Mayor of London, will reflect on what has inspired her in her career and approach to philanthropy.

Shadow Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper MP, will reflect on the growing importance of the charity sector to the UK, and highlight some of Labour’s thinking in the run-up to the 2015 election.

Campbell Robb, Chief Executive of Shelter, and the first Director General of the Office of the Third Sector in the Cabinet Office, will share his insights on the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.

Convention attractions

The Good Work Gallery returns, featuring the best in appeals and campaigns, as selected by The Good Agency and SOFII. Delegates will, as usual, get to vote for the very best.

JustGiving will be again be hosting National Convention Tech Lab, where delegates will be able to drop in for advice on the latest technology trends affecting the charity sector. You can follow developments there via the #ioftechlab Twitter hashtag.

The Expo will feature sector suppliers and advisors, together with the IoF Hub, which will showcase the Institute and its work.

Monday night will see the National Awards gala dinner and presentation, hosted by TV presenter Helen Skelton. A record 349 entries were submitted this year.

The AGM will be held, at which the results of elections to three vacancies on the board of trustees will also be announced.
