Click Collection’s pilot “confirms fundraising potential” of multi-charity online shops

Howard Lake | 5 April 2013 | News

Multi-charity online clothes shop Click Collection reports that its pilot scheme has achieved better results than the average High Street charity shop.

The pilot scheme involved seven charities and was designed to test the feasibility of the idea.

David Alder, Click Colection's director, explained: "The challenge for the pilot was to demonstrate a better Return on Sales (ROS) than the average High Street charity shop. Last year that was 24.4% including Gift Aid according to the Charity Shops Survey from Charity Finance magazine. The Click Collection pilot concluded with an average of 36.9% ROS over our participating charities.

He commented that charities without High Street shops were initially doubtful that they could achieve a good income from Click Collection. The company collects and resells donated good quality clothes and the donor gets to choose which charity will benefit.

Alder said: "Click Collection now enables almost any charity – even many with existing High Street shops – to generate more income. With virtually no investment from the charity, and no cost to supporters, joining in must be a ‘no-brainer’. Fashion retailing is fast moving online and Click Collection shows the way forward for charity retailing".

Click Collection has published a detailed report on its pilot scheme called 'From Rags to Greater Riches’. It is available exclusively to UK registered charities for £25, with all profits being donated to Action on Bladder Cancer.
