MyWhereAbouts app helps sponsored event runners promote their fundraising page
MyWhereAbouts is a new GPS tracking and fundraising mobile app designed both for participants in charity events and their supporters.
The app allows runners, walkers and cyclists to track their training and inform their supporters of their training efforts and progress during the big event via automated Twitter and Facebook updates. Family and friends can get real-time updates on Google maps, which can help them track the progress of the fundraiser around a course so that they can cheer them on at the right place.
The app lets users include the web link to the fundraiser's donation page and their donation text number, to appear in each of these updates. Fundraisers can link to a page on any online fundraising service.

MyWhereAbouts has already won Silver in the 2012 Women’s Running Magazine Awards in the category for Product Innovation.
It has already been used in many events including The Great North Run, Chester, Liverpool, Manchester, Conwy, Berlin, Frankfurt and Chicago Half and Full Marathons along with a very successful test of the app at this years HellRunner – Hell Up North!
Terry Hayward, Commercial Director at MyWhereAbouts said: "We had two main purposes: one was to highlight the cause by regularly posting or tweeting the fundraising link. Secondly, borne of a frustrated spectator, to be able to easily track a participant in an event and cheer them on."
The company also helps promote users' and their fundraising activities via Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
It is also offering a tailored version to charities which will reflect their branding so that they can promote that version directly to their supporters.
MyWhereAbouts is available for both iPhone and Android.
