Stewardship launches online giving service give.net

Howard Lake | 2 August 2012 | News

Christian charity Stewardship, which handles over £50 million a year in donations for a range of charities and causes, has launched Give.net, an online giving and fundraising service. The site is designed to enhance the charity’s giving accounts, which are used by over 25,000 people, and its online giving accounts which it launched in 2011.

Fees

Stewardship say that “Give.net is completely free for recipient charities and churches, and to Stewardship giving account holders making donations from their balance”.
It adds that “We do retain a small amount (3%) from gifts made by debit or credit card to cover our modest administration costs.”
It gives the example of a £10 donation, with £2.50 of Gift Aid added. Its 3% admin charge would be £0.38. There is no charge for debit card gifts, “but we have to add a 1% transaction fee for personal credit cards (2% for business cards)”.

Comparison with other online fundraising sites

Stewardship points out that give.net “is fully integrated with our giving accounts, allowing our community of 25,000 account holders to sponsor friends and family straight from their balances, or with a credit or debit card.”
In addition, because the gifts are made to the charity Stewardship which then passes it to its 19,000 recipient funds belonging to various charities and churches, “we can do clever things that other fundraising agency websites can’t”. For example, because each donation is made via Stewardship, site users will only ever have to make one Gift Aid declaration, no matter how many organisations they support.
It also publishes a table comparing give.net to other online fundraising services.
