London fundraisers had average 1% salary increase in 2011, says Kage Partnership
Fundraising recruitment specialists the Kage Partnership report that fundraisers at all levels in the London area secured an average salary increase in 2011 of 1%. The figure is contained in the agency’s annual fundraising salary survey which it is about to publish. It means that the majority of fundraisers in the capital experienced a below inflation salary increase last year.
The survey has been compiled from data on 340 fundraising vacancies in the London area, with over 100 charities, registered in the year from January to December 2011. The salary figures include London weighting.
The largest average salary increase of over 5% was enjoyed by fundraisers at the Corporate Officer level. Corporate Fundraisers earned between £22,000 and £35,500, with an average salary of £29,000; Corporate Fundraising Managers earned between £30,000 and £53,000, with an average salary of £36,500.
Trust Officers, and Community Officers and Managers also both experienced significant increases.
However, those in managerial positions experienced an overall marginal decrease in salary levels.
After a drop in previous years, the largest growth in fundraising vacancies during 2011 has been in corporate fundraising roles. The year also saw a reduction in the number of community and event fundraiser roles at both Manager and Officer levels.
There are still comparatively low numbers of salaried junior vacancies available.
The survey looked back over recent years and reports that since 2008, overall salaries have increased by 5.4%. During this period, Manager level salaries increased marginally more than those at Officer level.
