Arsenal dedicates next match to Save the Children
Arsenal Football Club will dedicates its Premier League match against Fulham this Saturday to its global charity partner, Save the Children. Its players will be donating a day’s wages along with many Arsenal staff to help raise funds for the charity. Supporters will also be invited to donate to help to support a range of the charity’s education projects in the UK and overseas.
Other fundraising initiatives will take place in and around Emirates Stadium on Saturday:
• The Armoury and The Arsenal at Highbury House stores donate at least £2 from the sale of exclusive co-branded sportsbands.
• 50p from the sale of each matchday programme will be donated to the partnership.
• A raffle will also take place with prizes ranging from a signed Arsenal shirt and a personalised stone in the new North Bank Terrace at Emirates Stadium to a pair of tickets to see Coldplay live in concert at the Emirates stadium in June 2012.
Arsenal Football Club CEO, Ivan Gazidis said: “Arsenal has a tradition on and off the pitch of bringing the best out of young people and our partnership with Save the Children is built on the shared belief that every child deserves a basic education and the opportunity to fulfil their potential.”
Arsenal v Fulham takes place on 26 November 2011 at 17.30.
Save the Children is Arsenal Football Club’s first official global charity partner. The football club used to run a Charity of the Season scheme, benefiting charities such as ChildLine, The David Rocastle Trust, the Willow Foundation, TreeHouse, and Teenage Cancer Trust.
