Ireland Funds to provide grants in 2012

Howard Lake | 18 November 2011 | News

The Ireland Funds will open another round of grant applications next year, according to its website.
This year it made a call for applications starting in February with a deadline at the end of March. No details have been provided on the number of successful applications or the total amount allocated although organisations which were successful began receiving notification during the summer.
The Funds’ website includes testimonials from a number of recipients of grants in the youth, social welfare and cultural fields.
In this year’s funding round the objective was to enable organisations to “fund new and innovative responses to social need”. The Funds said that when a project had proven its capacity, often on the back of a grant round gift, the Funds may bring it to the attention of individual donors for consideration.
The maximum grant in 2011 was stated as €25,000, with the average €7,000. The Funds said that organisations seeking grants larger than €25,000 would be considered on an individual basis with possible presentation to individual donors.
