Singer Tony Christie, best known for his hit single ‘Is this the way to Amarillo’, has recorded a new single ‘Steal the Sun’, which was digitally released in support of the charity on 23 October 2011.
The fundraising track was recorded with the Band of Royal Marines and the RAF Choir at the world famous Air Studios in Hampstead, the recording studios of legendary Beatles producer George Martin, on 17 October.
Afghan Heroes was founded in July 2009 by Denise Harris, in memory of her son Lee Scott, who died in an explosion in Afghanistan whilst serving with the Royal Tank Regiment. The charity gives direct and practical support to British soldiers in Afghanistan by sending them home comforts every year on Armed Forces Day, as
well as providing Holiday Homes in the UK and a support network to the families of those killed on active service.
