Cancer Research UK is partnering with men’s clothing retailer Burton to encourage men to donate unwanted clothes, accessories and homewares to raise funds for the charity. Celebrities such as Ryan Giggs, Big Brother star Ziggy, TV presenter Jeff Brazier and actor Chucky Venice are helping to promote the new campaign.

From now until mid-October the “Don’t Need It? Donate It” campaign is encouraging men “to make themselves over and help beat cancer at the same time”.

In return for donating items, Burton will reward participants with a discount on men’s fashion in their stores: Cancer Research UK will hand over a voucher for £5 off a spend of £25 or more in Burton when donations are received.

It is hoped that the campaign will generate £250,000 worth of good quality men’s stock for the charity’s network of 600 shops. The charity estimates that each bag of good quality items can be worth around £30 to it.

Simon Ledsham, retail director at Cancer Research UK, said: “All good-quality donations of clothes, books, CDs and household items are welcome. Generating stock is vital for the charity’s shops so we’re really hoping that we’ll get some great men’s fashion and accessories from this campaign.”
