Norwood appoints new YN co-chair
Norwood’s new YN Co-Chair has vowed to continue the ‘innovative’ work of the charity’s fundraising programme for younger supporters, following his appointment this week. James Reichman will join fellow Co-Chair Simon Walton at the head of the YN Board, which advises on all aspects of YN fundraising.
James, 29, is currently the Co-Chair of the YN Finance Committee and during his tenure its events have raised more than £72,000 for Norwood. Having worked with several UK charities since leaving university, James became actively involved with Norwood when looking to develop a committee that specifically targeted young finance professionals. He chose Norwood because it had already established itself as one of the country’s foremost charities for fundraising across select professional networks.
James takes over from Rachael Davis Stollar, a restructuring and insolvency lawyer at Olswang LLP, who after three years has reached the end of her term in office. Rachael played an important part in YN’s unprecedented success during this time and will continue to be involved with Norwood through the Lady J Helping Hand Awards.
James, an employee of Investec Bank plc, said: “Norwood is the community’s safety net and its work with people with learning disabilities, and children and families in need, is of the upmost importance. I believe that YN is a fantastic way to engage the younger members of the community and I am delighted to have been appointed as the new YN Co-Chair.
“Together with Simon, I hope to build on the significant work of Rachael and the previous Co-Chairs, to ensure that YN continues to generate the vital funds that are necessary for Norwood to provide the life-changing services on which so many vulnerable people rely. I will also ensure that YN maintains the level of leadership and innovation that it has developed over the years, specifically with regards to young patronage and fundraising throughout the community.”
Adele Breslauer, Norwood’s Head of Fundraising, said: “YN continues to go from strength to strength and, through the hard work and dedication of people like James, Simon, Rachael and others, has become an integral part of Norwood’s fundraising programme and will be key to the charity’s future.
“I would like to welcome James as the new YN Co-Chair and believe he will be a huge asset to YN over the coming years. On behalf of Norwood, I would also like to thank Rachael Davis Stollar for her incredible commitment to Norwood and am delighted that she will continue to be involved with our work through the Lady J Helping Hand Awards.”
Rachael Davis Stollar added: “Norwood has had an enormous impact on my life and I am honoured to have had the opportunity to Co-Chair the YN Board for the past three years. During this period, I have been privileged to see first hand how YN’s fundraising events and initiatives directly benefit thousands of vulnerable people, giving them a quality of life they might not otherwise have had.
“My voluntary work with Norwood has become a major part of my life and I believe it is vital for young people to become more engaged with organisations like Norwood which are the backbone of our community.”
YN offers social business networking events to young people aged between 21 and 35 via the following committees that fundraise on behalf of Norwood: YN Current Affairs: YN Finance; YN Lawyers, YN Media and YN Property.
