Ben & Jerry’s say donate your spare Twitter characters to a good cause

Howard Lake | 6 May 2011 | News

Put your unused Twitter characters to good use, says Ben & Jerry’s.
Their clever take on donating your spare change to a good cause is helping to spread the word about fair trade.
“Every day, millions of Twitter characters go unused”, says their campaign website. “That’s not very fair. But now you can tweet as you normally would, and we’ll turn any leftover characters into a message about Fair Trade. Now that’s fair.”
They’ve built a Twitter application to add a message and link about World Fair Trade Day (14 May) in the remaining character spaces of one’s tweets.
Here’s my Tweet:

I’m donating mine: I’m putting my unused Twitter characters to good use, to raise awareness for #FairTrade. #FairTweets http://t.co/Co0kknhFri May 06 22:36:45 via Tweet Button
