Howard Lake | 21 October 2010 | News

The Community Foundation for Ireland is making a call for applications for the next round of its Grassroots Grant Scheme.
The Grassroots Grants Scheme aims to support the disadvantaged by providing small grants for specific projects that will contribute to alleviating isolation and disadvantage. Since 2000, the scheme has supported hundreds of groups in this way.
The maximum grant is €5,000 and the deadline is 29 October 2010.
For the purpose of this programme the Foundation allocates grants to groups working in specific areas. These are:
· Carers
· Ethnic Minorities
· Families at Risk
· Mental Health
· Older People
The Community Foundation for Ireland is an independent grantmaking organisation. It uses the monies from a permanent endowment and from donors and philanthropists to distribute grants to various causes and groups across the Republic of Ireland.
Applicants to the Grassroots programme can apply online or download a Word application form and will be informed of the outcome of their application within six to eight weeks.
Closing dates for 2011 are:
