Gannett Foundation offers grants of up to £50,000

Howard Lake | 18 August 2010 | News

The Gannett Foundation, the charitable arm of the Gannett Co. Inc, owner of the Newsquest Media Group, is inviting applications for grants for up to £50,000 from local charities before 3 September.
The foundation funds local organisations in the areas where Newsquest operates in the UK. Newsquest publishes more than 300 newspapers and more than 100 websites nationwide including News Shopper.
It favours projects which “take a creative approach to local community needs from which a large number of people in that community benefit”. It gives priority to:
* Projects of lasting benefit (e.g. specially adapted mini buses for elderly people or people with disabilities)
* Projects that benefit people with special needs either through disability or disadvantage
* Sport, environment, conservation and local history projects
Grants will not be given to organisations that are not registered charities, national or regional organisations unless the project addresses specific local community needs, general appeals, animal charities or school groups.
