Vote for UK's 'richest' person

Howard Lake | 13 July 2010 | News

Forum3 has announced the shortlist of 11 people for the 2010 Alternative Rich List.
In its third year, the List identifies the UK’s ‘richest’ people by assessing “wealth of heart and spirit” and considering how individuals have enriched the lives of others and the wider community. More than 150 nominations were received from the public across the UK, and a panel of third sector experts has whittled this down to a shortlist of just 11, with judges unable to reduce it to the usual 10.
Director of forum3 Deborah Hockham said “This year’s nominees are among our most diverse. Some from high-profile organisations with others having started their own grassroots campaigns. Some [are] doing amazing work locally [and] others internationally.
“Some candidates have dedicated decades or even their lives to causes while others have achieved a lot in a short space of time, working across health, mental health, animal welfare, child welfare, microfinance and international aid.
“However, despite their differences, all deserve to be recognised and celebrated for the lives they have improved, helped and saved. forum3 is immensely proud of these true heroes of society and wants to trumpet their achievements from the rooftops.”
To see the candidates and to vote, go to www.forum3.co.uk. The voting closes on 17 September and the top three winners will be announced at the forum3 event on 24 September at the Business Design Centre in London.
